AMENDMENT 497

Amendment: The Commentary to §1B1.1 captioned "Application Notes" is amended in Note 4 by inserting the following additional paragraph as the second paragraph:

"Absent an instruction to the contrary, the adjustments from different guideline sections are applied cumulatively (added together). For example, the adjustments from §2F1.1(b)(2) (more than minimal planning) and §3B1.1 (aggravating role) are applied cumulatively.".

Reason for Amendment: This amendment clarifies the Commission’s intent that, absent an instruction to the contrary, adjustments from different guideline sections are to be applied cumulatively.

Effective Date: The effective date of this amendment is November 1, 1993.
