Guideline Amendments
When possible, the Commission performs prison and sentencing impact assessments as part of its consideration of amendments to the federal sentencing guidelines. Legislation
Pursuant to statute, the Commission often is asked to perform prison and sentencing impact assessments for Congress. (See FAQs for more information about these requests.) The Commission will post here prison and sentencing impact assessments that it provides to the Congressional Budget Office as part of the Congressional Budget Estimates that it performs for congressional committee reports. The final budget estimates and prison and sentencing impacts may be found on the CBO website: www.cbo.gov.
